Moukandjo gets one over Nkoulou as Eto'o, Chedjou, Mbia get goals

Cameroonians were on target in the various European leagues after the international break. Samuel Eto'o returned to scoring ways as Aurelien Chedjou and Mbia scored their first goals of the season. We take a comprehensive round up of the performances of Cameroonians in the diaspora.

We begin this week in France where Axel Ngando lined up for Bastia as they lost 2-0 nil at home to league leaders Paris Saint Germain.


After overs month out with an ankle injury, Benoit Assou Ekotto returned at left back for Saint Etienne as they defeated GFC Ajaccio two nil. Jacques Zoua’s struggles in front of goal continued as he once more failed to find the back of the net in the 57 mins he spent on the pitch for GFC Ajaccio. Meanwhile goalkeeper Jules Goda was once more on the Ajaccio bench.

Henri Bienvenu Ntsama came on for the last five minutes for Troyes as they lost three nil away at Nantes.

Jean Armel Kana Biyik lined up at centre half for Toulous as they suffered a 2-1 home defeat against Angers. Gael Angoula spent the whole game on the Angers bench while Guy Ngosso came on for the last quarter of the game.

David Ngog was equally a bench warmer for Reims in their one nil defeat at home to Caen.
Benjamin Moukandjo got one over Nicolas Nkoulou as he beat him for pace to score his fifth goal of the season as Lorient pulled a 1-1 draw against Marseille. You can watch Moukandjo's goal below...


Ligue 2

Guy Roland Ndy Assembe was in goal for AS Nancy as they defeated Red Star FC one nil. Georges Constant Mandjeck made his fourth consecutive start for Metz as they were held to a 2-2 draw by Clermont who had Eugene Ekobo at left back.

Modeste Mbami made his first appearance for Le Havre coming on as a late substitute with eight minutes left as they defeated Valenciennes one nil.

Karl Toko Ekambi had an hour to impress for Sochaux s they were held to a goalless draw by Tours to stay second on the league standings. The striker who has scored three goals in eight appearances this season had three attempts on goal but failed to find the back of the net as he was sub off on the hour mark. However, defenders Adolphe Teikeu and Jerome Onguene played the full 90 minutes for Sochaux.

Fabien Tchenkoua was a second half substitute for Nimes as they lost 4-2 away at Bourg en Bresse. The 23-year Cameroonian midfielder came on for the last thirty minutes of the game to make his ninth appearance of the season but could not prevent his side from the heavy defeat.

Ande Dona Ndoh scored a brace for Niort despite their 3-2 home defeat against Auxerre. The 29-year old striker put his side level at the 13 minute after trailing early in the game but his team soon slipped to concede two goals before break. Dona Ndoh grabbed his second on the hour mark but his team could not find the third as the way side left with all three points. Meanwhile Frederic Bong was stretchered off just after 27 minutes with an injury.

Christian Bekamenga was a second half substitute for Lens in 1-1 home draw against Laval in the final game of the round on Monday night. After trailing as early as the fifth minute, the Cameroonian striker was introduced after the break and the substitution immediately paid off as Lens got the equalizer one minute later through Pierrick Valdivia. However Bekamenga has scored just once in ten appearances this season as he continues to struggle in front of goal.

Turkey

Landry Nguemo his first start of the season for Akhisar Belediyespor as they picked up a one nil victory over Eskisehirspor.

Aurelien Chedjou headed home his first goal of the season as Galatasaray picked up a comfortable 4-1 victory over Genclebirligi to stay two points away from leaders Besiktas.

Samuel Eto’oreturned to scoring ways as he grabbed a second half goal for Antalyaspor intheir two nil victory over Bursaspor with Jean II Makoun grabbing an assist for the second goal scored by Bassan late on in the game. On the other hand, Dany Nounkeu was left out of the match day squad.
Charles Itandje and Leonard Kweuke played 90 minutes for Rizespor as they slipped to a one nil defeat against league leaders Besiktas.

Stephane Mbia scored his first goal of the season for Trabzonspor in the fifth minute of additional time but that was not enough as they conceded their fourth consecutive defeat this time around 3-2 against Mersin Idmanyurdu.

In the Turkish second division, Georges Augustin Binya lined up for Elazigspor as they defeated Adana Demirspor one nil to stay top of the league.

Belgium,

Evariste Ngolok was a bench warmer for Lokeren as they lost 2-1 at home to OH Leuven to remain second from bottom.

Sebastien Siani lined up in midfield for KV Ostende as they slipped to a one nil defeat against Club Brugges to relinquish top spot to Gent who were 2-1 winners over Mouscron.

In the second division, Wala Zock lined up for Patro Eisden as they pulled a 2-2 draw against Lierse with the Cameroonian picking up a booking in the first half. A run of five games without a win leaves Patro in the relegation zone.

Raoul Kenne lined up in defence for AS Eupen in their two nil victory over RFC Seraing to stay third on the standings with 22 points two points away from leaders Antwerp.

In Armenia,

19-year old striker Oumarou Kaina led the line for Ararat as they pulled a one nil win away at Pyunik VS. The Cameroonian who is yet to score a goal in his ten appearances so far this season was booked eight minutes from time as his side held on for the win that moved them up to fifth on the standings.

In Cyprus,

20-year old midfielder Njoh Edimo was a second-half substitute for Doxa as he saw off the final ten minutes of their 2-2 draw against Ayia Napa. The former Caiman of Douala midfielder has made four appearances this season, all coming off the bench.

In Finland,

Eric Matoukou lined up at the back for Inter Tuku as they slipped to a two-nil home defeat against SJK. The 32-year -old former Indomitable Lion could not help his side prevent to first half goals from the visitors that sealed their faith. Even the second half introduction of 29-year old striker Serge N’gal could not bring them back in the game as the visitors ran out with all three points to stay top of the league while InterTurku remain fourth. On the other hand, 26-year old striker Thierry Nguekam was an unused substitute for SJK.

27-year old striker Jean Nganbe Nganbe played the final nine minutes of the game between his side Rops and Kups as they emerged 2-1 winners.

Greece,

Yaya Banana lined up in defence for Plantanias as they thread Panthrakikos four nil but still remain in the bottom three.

27-yearold midfielder Olivier Boumale played 90 minutes for Panionios as they Kalloni two nil to move to third on the standings with 13 points, eight points away from leaders Olympiakos.

Qatar,
Raoul Cedric Loe lined up in midfield for Al Sailiya as they grabbed a precious 2-1 away victory at Al Wakrah to climb into the top team.

Romania,

Antonio Ghomsi and Fai Collins lined up in at the back for Dinamo Bucarest in their 2-1 victory over Targu Mures to stay in the top five.  Marcel Essombe was a second half substitute while Patrice Feussi was a bench warmer throughout the game.

Steve Beleck and CFR Cluj were dealt a massive blow in their bid to climb back to the top half of the table as they lost 2-1 at home against Viitorul. The Cameroonian striker could not make the most of his chances despite registering five shots on goal.

South Africa,

Patrick Amour Tignyemb was in goal for Bloemfontein Celtic as they were held to a goalless draw by Golden Arrows, thereby denying them a chance to go top of the Absa Premiership.

Switzerland,

Franck Etoundi was a second half substitute for FC Zurich in their 5-1 thrashing away at Thun. The 25-year old striker has scored just two goals in nine appearances this season.

Edgar Salli was pulled off after 38 minutes with an injury  as his side ST Gallen equally fell 3-1 away at Lugano.

USA

Toni Tchami lined was part of the Columbus Crew team that beat Toronto two nil in the Eastern conference of the Major League Soccer to stay second and maintain all their play offs chances  intact.

After he was sent off two weeks ago, Oyongo Bitolo returned in defence for Montreal Impact as they edged New England one nil to move fifth in the Eastern conference.

Eric Ayuk Mbu played the final thirteen minutes for Philadelphia Union as they suffered a 4-1 thrashing at the hands of New York Red Bulls.

In England,

Allan Nyom shook off a slight knock picked up last week to return to the starting eleven for Watford as they suffered a three nil home defeat against Arsenal. The right back was booked early on in the second half before being withdrawn with twenty minutes to go. The defeat leaves Watford at the 15 position, four points above the drop zone.

Sebastien Bassong endured a torrid time at the heart of the Norwich City defence as they suffered a 6-2 thrashing against Newcastle United who picked up their first win of the season.

Clinton Njie came off the bench as early as the 11 minute to replace the injured Nacer Chadli as Tottenham Hotspurs settled for goalless draw against Liverpool at White Hart Lane. The winger is still after his first premier league start as well as goal for the club.

In the Championship, Gaetan Bong kept his place at left back as Brighton and Hove picked up a 2-1 win away at Leeds United to pull four points clear at the top with the Cameroonian grabbing an assist in the game. The Cameroonian was booked late on in the third minute of additional time.

Germany,

Eric Maxime Choupo Moting and Joel Matip both started for Schalke 04 as they picked up a 2-1 victory against Hertha Berlin to stay third in the Bundesliga.

On the other hand, Marvin Matip was on the losing side as he started in defence for Ingolstadt in their one nil defeat away at Stuttgart.

In Spain,

Idriss Carlos Kameni endured a torrid time in goal for Malaga as they endured a three nil defeat against Valencia.

Divison 2

Achille Emana was benched by Gimnastic Tarragone as they pulled a 2-1 victory over Athletic Club II.

Division 3

Fabrice Ondoua once again sat on the bench for Barcelona B as they played a 1-1 draw away Villareal B. Jean Marie Dongou Tsafack led the lines for the Catalan side while Euguene Onana and Wilfrid Kaptoum were second half substitutes.
