Goals from Aurelien Chedjou, Vincent Abubakar and Clinton Njie gave the Lions a ''moral-boosting" win ahead of Sunday's international friendly game against the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
The Lions were made to pay for their slow start as early as the second minute when Nigerian striker Akpala slotted the ball past Ndy Assembe to give the Belgian side the lead.
Cameroon reacted well from going behind with Vincent Abubakar coming close to leveling scores at the half hour mark but KV Ostende goalkeeper Chopin was steady in goal to deny the Porto striker.
Cameroon had the chance to level after the were awarded a penalty late into the first half- but Chopin was once more at it to deny Vincent Abubakar from the resulting spot kick.
The Belgian held up the Indomitable Lions for over an hour but but their resilience was broken at the 70 minute when Aurelien Chedjou rose highest from a corner kick to beat the Ostende's 'keeper with a powerful header.
Vincent Abubakar then got his goal ten minutes later through a brilliant solo effort before Clinton Njie sealed the win three minutes from times.
