''Mini Pam Pam'' returns as Sports Minister

Eleven years after, the former comedian returns to a Ministry that brought the best out of him.

Pierre Ismael Bidoung Mkpatt has been appointed as the Minister of Sports and Physical Education following a Presidential decree made public on Friday.

The 62-year old former Minister of Youths and Civic Education replaces Adoum Garoua who has been shown the door out of the new/old government.

Bidoung Mkpatt returns to a ministry he once took charge in the early 2000s where Cameroon had arguably its brightest moment in football.

During ''Mini Pam Pam's'' first stint as Sports Minister, Cameroon won the 2002 Africa Cup of Nations, reached the finals of the 2003 Confederations Cup, won gold at the Olympics, won the Afcon(Cadet category), gold medal at the All African Games in Nigeria in 2003.

Bidoung Mkpatt returns to the Sports Ministry at a moment  Cameroon's football is n seeking real leadership to help steer off the troubled waters it has been plunged into since 2010.

His first major task at hand would be to coordinate the organisation and hosting of the 2016 Women's Africa Cup of Nations.
