Gambia name squad to face Cameroon

Gambia have named a 24-man squad for next month's 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Cameroon.

Head Coach Raoul Savoy named his squad on Thursday at a press conference held at the Gambia Football Federation Secretariat.

Savoy has handed a first call to young striker Boubacar Trawally following his impressive displays with Chinese second division side Yanbian Changbaishan where he has scored 14 goals so far this season.

However, the was no place in the squad for in-form Helsinki striker Ousman Jallow due to personal reasons while star striker Mustapha Carayol opted out of the squad after his protracted transfer from Middlesbrough to Huddersfield left him exhausted.

Lech Poznan striker Kebba Ceesay returns to the squad while Granada's Sulayman Marreh and young defender Bubacar Sanneh have all been called up.

The Gambia open a four-day training camp on Monday in Casablanca, Morocco ahead of the game scheduled for September 6 at the Independence stadium in Bakau, Banjul.
