Double blow for Lions ahead of Gambia showdown

Cameroon would be without Aurelien Chedjou and Clinton Njie for this weekend's 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Gambia, the team's press officer has announced.

Chedjou was stretchered off the pitch at the weekend during Galatasaray's 4-1 win against Konyaspor with scans later revealing he would be out for several weeks.

''Thanks you all for the messages. I will be back soon, and stronger,'' Chedjou tweeted on Saturday.

On his part, Clinton Njie is still nursing a slight knock he picked in pre-season with Lyon which has prevented him from playing since joining Tottenham Hotspurs two weeks ago.
Chedjou would would miss Sunday's game

Head coach Volker Finke has called up Salli Edgar to replace Njie but no back up has been added for Chedjou as 22 players are already in camp.

''At the moment, no player has been called up (to replace Chedjou). The coach would work with 22 players,'' Lions' team press Officer Vincent de Paul Atangana  said.

Cameroon are preparing for next Sunday's game in Dakar, Senegal and would cap off with a friendly against Senegal's U23 side with a friendly before taking off for Banjul.

The Lions top Group M with three points ahead of their opponent of the and and South Africa who have one point each while Mauritius tail the group with zero point.
